PLEASE NOTE: It takes us time to process applications, depending upon the volume of applications we have at any given time and how quickly we can reach references. We WILL get back to you once your application is processed and discuss next steps, possible placements with you - however it can take a few days to do that so please be patient! Please give us time to do our due diligence. To speed up the process, please let your references know that they will be receiving a call from us.
Our rescue is 100% foster based. That means that all of our dogs live in foster homes with private families. We do not have a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs. Once you complete an application, we check vet and personal references, and set up a time to come visit your home so that we can see where our dog would be living and get to know you a bit. After that process is complete, if you are approved to adopt, we bring the dog to you for a meet and greet with your entire family and other pets. We value our foster families’ privacy, and their day to day routine. For that reason, you must go through the application/approval process prior to a meet and greet, which is always part of placement.
If you would like to adopt one of our dogs, please fill out our Adoption Application. We always want to make sure that a dog and families are a good match for each other.
We check vet records and personal references.
Do home visits
And then a meet and greet with the dog, and the family and other pets, to make sure the placement is a good one for all concerned.
If you have owned a pet within the last five years, we will need contact information for your veterinarian, including the name and location of the practice and their telephone number.
We also require three personal references, one of which may be a family member
We do not transport our dogs out of state, nor do we do long-distance adoptions. Unfortunately, because of the animal import laws in the states surrounding CT, we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of CT.
Our adoption fee is $450.00. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered; up to date with vaccines; tested for heartworm, tick-borne illnesses and parasites; and all necessary medical treatment completed before the dog is cleared to be adopted.
We make adoption decisions based upon the best match for both the dog and the family. We do not apply “first come, first served” criteria.
